Bridge of Peace

Bridge of Peace

Bridge of Peace

This modern glass bridge in the middle of the old town of Tbilisi is a favorite destination for travelers and locals. It is part of the main tourist routes in Tbilisi and connects the Park of Rike with Erekle II Street. It was designed by Italian architect Michele De Lucchi. Michele De Lucchi is also the author of several important buildings in modern Tbilisi. One of them is a presidential residence. The bridge is almost completely made of steel and glass. It represents a path that is hanging from the covering construction of steel and glass. The cover itself is supported by four steel pillars. The pathway is 156 meters long. The construction has 50,000 lamps installed in the glass. The lamps are lit at night, and the bridge creates a beautiful view in contrast to the river Mtkvari. Hence, the Peace Bridge is one of the iconic sights in Tbilisi.

If you are anywhere near Sioni Cathedral or Avlabari District, just walk down and see the bridge. Take a few pictures from there, especially when it has great views of the old town. The residence of the president, Metekhi Cathedral, Queen Darejan's Palace, Narikala Fortress, and the cable car are visible from the bridge.
