Tbilisi State Academy of Art

In the central part of Tbilisi, right behind Rustaveli Avenue on Alexander Griboedovi Street, you can find a mirror wonderland. It is a hall located in the Tbilisi State Academy of Art. Being one of the most famous academies in Georgia, the building of Tbilisi State Academy was built in the 19th century. It belonged to an Armenian merchant, Vardan Arshakuni, who decided to build the best ballet hall in the country. He invited Qajar artists from Iran to make the halls in the building look Oriental, but the architect of the building was Gregori Ivanov, and the building itself is very European. Defined by an eclectic mix of European and Oriental architecture, this building is one of the most outstanding heritage sites in Tbilisi. Everyone is welcome at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. You are more than welcome to walk in with the permission of the guards and enjoy the sights of those beautiful mirror halls. There you can see wall paintings from the 1900s when the building was bought by another family who decided to make a wedding with 500 guests, and specifically for this occasion, they painted other halls with paintings about daily life in Tbilisi. All the halls, with their mirror decorations, paintings, and colorful windows, look unique, and you are more than welcome to visit them.
