Georgia is increasingly becoming one of the most attractive ski destinations in Europe and the Caucasus region. Often referred to as an affordable alternative to Switzerland, the country offers high mountain ranges, long snowy winters, and breathtaking alpine landscapes at significantly lower prices compared to Western Europe.

The Greater Caucasus Mountains provide excellent conditions for winter sports, with reliable snowfall, modern infrastructure, and rapidly developing ski resorts. Although Georgia has only a few major ski resorts, each of them offers a unique combination of untouched nature, authentic culture, and diverse terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Skiing in Georgia has historical roots dating back to the Soviet period, when mountain regions such as Bakuriani were developed as winter sports training centers. Bakuriani in particular became one of the key locations for professional skiing, hosting athletes and winter sports development programs. Today, these traditions continue, combined with modern tourism infrastructure and growing international popularity.

Georgia is especially well known among neighboring countries and visitors from Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Eastern Europe, who already recognize its value as a winter sports destination with a strong balance of price, quality, and natural beauty.
