Georgia has a lot to offer those who like winter. Bakuriani is among the most popular ski resorts in Georgia. It is located at 1700 meters above sea level on the northern slope of the Trialeti Mountain range. It was established as a ski resort in 1935, and today it has five ski slopes and 23 ski runs. They are different and are divided according to the skier’s level of experience. It is possible to ski on Didveli slope at night. It has a beautiful light system that functions on weekends from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. For skiers with little or no experience, there are smaller ski runs.

 

 

What To Do

 

If there is something more than skiing you want to experience on your winter holidays, Bakuriani won’t disappoint you. There’s a lot to find there. Horseback riding, snowboarding, sledding, and hiking are some options, or you can visit one of the many bars and restaurants, go partying, or go sightseeing around Bakuriani. If you decide to go sightseeing, you are in the perfect spot. There are interesting places within 1–2 hours’ drive from Bakuriani. You can visit the 9th century Green Monastery or go to Borjomi and visit the Central Park of Borjomi. There is also the option to spend a day in Borjom-Kharagauli National Park. Borjom-Kharagauli National Park is the largest national park in the country, with a total area of over 108 hectares. The National Park makes up 1.5% of the total territory of Georgia and covers six municipalities. There are 12 proper hiking trails. Some of them are open all year. Hiking trails go as high as 2645 meters above sea level. In the National Park, you can ride horses, take bicycles, go camping, or even organize a conference.

 

Bakuriani is accessible by public transportation from Didube Bus Station in Tbilisi. Driving takes 3 hours. There is a possibility to rent a car or hire a taxi for 250 GEL.
